Presented in the section Culinary Cinema of the 68th International Film Festival in Berlin, a new film by the most famous Singapore director Eric Khoo, the author of "Tatsumi", "12 floors" and "Be with me".
Masato is a young chef specializing in ramen. After the sudden death of his dear father, the boy packs his suitcase and moves from Japanese Takasaki to Singapore, where he hopes to discover the secret of his parents' relationship.
The hero has a red notebook with him - full of reflection and old photos - left by his Singaporean mother who died when Masato was only ten years old.
In Singapore, the chef meets Miki, a Japanese blogger and a single mother who helps him find Uncle Wee from the mother's side, the owner of the Bak Kut Teh restaurant. By the way, Masato discovers that his grandmother Lee is still alive and has the key to as much romantic as the turbulent love story of her boyfriend's parents.
Masato together with her grandmother will try to heal each other's troubled souls in the kitchen, where meals prepared together will become something more than the sum of ingredients
